Programs / Projects
National Service Scheme is a Two Years activity based program in that Social service of 120 hours (First year) + 120 hours (Second year) + 1 NSS Special Residential camp (7 Days) is mandatory to complete. Volunteers participates in various Social activities conducted at the College, University, adopted Slum area and Adopted Village area under Area based i.e. AB1 (40 hrs), AB2 (40 hrs), College level (20 hrs) and University level (20 hrs) like Environmental awareness sessions / Rallies, Tree plantation, Compost pit / Soak pit / Bandhara Construction, Health & Hygiene awareness sessions / Rallies, Health Check Camps, Blood donation, Cleanliness drives, Sanitization, Road safety & Traffic control, Immunization, AIDS awareness, Anti tobacco, Anti Drugs, inter or Intra-Collegiate Competitions etc. in each year.
Opportunities - Benefits
After completion of 2 years of National Service Scheme program, volunteers will get a National level certificate from Ministry Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India which is most valuable. Preference will be given in Public Service Commission if a candidate has a certificate of NSS (i.e. If there are two candidates of the same caliber, the candidates with an NSS certificate will be given preference). Volunteers will get the benefit of Maximum 10 Grace marks in the last semester of the respective academic year according to the “Ordinance 229 – A” after completion of 120 hours of Social service under the NSS program. In the second Year of NSS, talented Volunteers get opportunities to participate in National / State Republic Day Parade, National Integration Camp (NIC), National Youth Festival (NYF), Adventure Camp, Avhaan Camp, Utkarsha, etc. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India had instituted the National Service Scheme Awards to recognize the voluntary service rendered by NSS volunteers, Programme Officers, NSS units and the university/senior secondary council.
